Amstel River Quiet Banks

Blauwbrug to the Berlagebrug along both banks of the Amstel — houseboats, willows, and the river doing all the work.

Why this route restores

The Amstel is Amsterdam's mother water — slow, wide, and quiet where the tourist boats don't reach. Both banks are level, tree-lined, and lined with houseboats that never move. It's the city breathing at river pace.

Presence notes

Start at the Blauwbrug and walk south along the east bank (Weesperzijde). Cross at the Berlagebrug and return along Amsteldijk. The Skinny Bridge and Hermitage sit at the north end; the willow-lined south stretch is the walk's still centre.
