The Danube island's northern half — wide water on both sides, meadows, and the quietest kilometres of Vienna.
Donauinsel is a 21-km linear island in the middle of the Danube. The north half is meadow, reed, and long horizon — the busiest urban river becomes the quietest walk.
From Donauinsel U-Bahn, walk north along the west bank. Cross at any of the small footbridges and return along the east bank with the Danube's other channel beside you.
